Dr. Patricio Molina and the Pan Global Music Initiative, in collaboration with Universidad Católica Nordestana in the Dominican Republic, launched a project in 2023 centered on the music of the Dominican Republic.

Artistic director

Named "a gifted artist" by the New York Times, Dr. Patricio Molina Ph.D., D.M.A. has gained a reputation as a composer, pianist, and educator. Patricio regularly appears on stages such as Carnegie Hall and OPERA America. Dr. Molina is a Yamaha Artist.

Meet the pERFORMERS

  • Dr. Zuly Inirio

    is an Afro-Latina Dominican-American soprano, scholar, and TEDx speaker, originally from the Dominican Republic and currently based in Pittsburgh. She is known for her advocacy in promoting Afro-Latinidad within classical music.

    As the founder of the Afro-Latinx Song & Opera Project, she has commissioned new works from Afro-Latin composers and championed underrepresented voices in the classical canon.

    Her performance credits include Verdi's Requiem in Munich and Aida in Sicily. Dr. Inirio has collaborated with esteemed institutions such as Lincoln Center, Duolingo, and Carnegie Mellon University, and she is affiliated with organizations like NALAC, Opera America’s Opera Leaders of Color, and SphinxLEAD.

    With a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from Louisiana State University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Inirio integrates her artistic and community-driven influences into her international and domestic work, advocating for equity and inclusion in classical music.

    She continues to perform, speak, and collaborate on projects that reflect the cultural richness of Afro-Latinx communities and broader social justice movements.

  • Gabriel De los santos

    started singing at a young age and was one of the youngest contestants of Telemundo’s “La Voz Kids”. From there he was accepted on full scholarship into the Carollo program at The Newark School of the Arts and NJPAC where he studies voice with Nadine Herman who is also the music director.

    Gabriel’s performance credits include Showtime at the Apollo with Steve Harvey and Music Director Ray Chew. He has also won the Celia Cruz award at the Emmy award winning Hispanic Youth Showcase. Gabriel had the opportunity to be selected as a performer for grand opening of the Grammy Museum at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. He also made his debut at Bergenpac as an opening act for “The Celia Cruz All Stars”, and is a 6x winner at Amateur Night at the famous Apollo theater.

  • Mallory Molina

    is a Lyric Soprano and licensed Music Educator based in New Jersey. A Connecticut native, she graduated Magna Cum Laude as a double major in Music Education and Voice from the University of Connecticut. She has appeared in venues such as OPERA America, Carnegie Hall, and the Lincoln Center Library.

    Mallory has enjoyed several years of teaching Vocal and General Music in Connecticut and New Jersey public schools in many different classroom environments and age groups. Notably, in 2018 her choir won a statewide competition and appeared for a live performance on a national television network. Her driving philosophy as a teacher is that singing is for everyone.

    Mallory is an active member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. She is dedicated to causes that promote access to music education, and artistic programming that helps to redefine classical music in the modern age.

  • Vic Ortiz

    was born in the Dominican Republic and learned how to play the flute when he immigrated to the United States. He received the Carollo Scholarship where he studied with Aki Kasuga in Newark School of the Arts.

    He graduated from Montclair State University with his bachelors in Music Education. During his time there, he had studied under Allison Loggins-Hull, Bruce Williams and Alice Jones. He had the privilege to travel to Czech Republic, Germany and Austria with the MSU wind ensemble for the WASBE 2022 conference. He also created and led the Afro-Caribbean Ensemble with the help of Oscar Perez.

    Currently, he is a middle school general music teacher in Paterson as well as part of the staff in the Carollo program of Newark School of the Arts.

  • Leonardo “Leo” De Jesus

    is a versatile percussionist based in New York City, specializing in orchestral and latin percussion. Having honed his craft at New Jersey City University, where he studied under renowned percussionists Dr. Greg Giannascoli and Rolando Morales Matos, Leo has over ten years of experience in a variety of musical styles and applications from musical theater pit orchestras to directing and arranging for salsa bands. Leo has established himself as a sought-after freelance latin percussionist in the NYC/NJ area. He was the founder, musical director, and timbalero of the 14-piece Skyline Salsa Band and regularly plays with Anonima Orquestra, Litha Symphony Orchestra, and other NYC based ensembles.
